conversations

In the summer of 2022 I was asked to compile quotations to accompany prayers written by Pádraig Ó Tuama during his time as poet in residence at Church of the Heavenly Rest. Those quotations, along with scriptural excerpts and Pádraig’s poems became Being Here, published by Eerdmans in January 2023.

Being Here teaches us not just where poetry, prayer, and the history of literature intersect. It shows us how to get to that intersection, how to dwell in a place of ambiguities with the certainty of our souls, and how to use these ambiguities to thrive daily. ”

WHO IS PRESENT? – MARKING ABSENCE IN ANGLICAN TRADITIONessay in Earth & Altar May 2021

As chair of the Visual Arts Ministry at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Seattle, I curated and facilitated exhibits highlighting local, national and international artists, using art to initiate communal conversations. An article from 2018 in the Episcopal Journal showcases an installation of Stations of the Cross in the Cathedral Nave. In this podcast recorded in 2018, I talk with Mary Segall about how the mutual ministry of Visual Arts and Mid-East Focus led to the dramatic “I Am” exhibit.

For 19 years, I worked in community building under the guise of technology, drawing from my artistic practice in performance and installation art, both practiced with a commitment to the work of witnessing the other. This podcast from 2019 and the presentation below highlight relational work done in the context of tech.

A recording of a presentation offered at the 2018 MacAdmin’s conference at Penn State University, exploring the importance of partners, allies and confidants in tech work.
